Falconets Arrive In Nigeria After FIFA World Cup Exit

Nigeria U20 women's national team, the Falconets, on Sunday night touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja after they were knocked out of the ongoing 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 2010 and 2014 finalists lost 1-2 to the firepower of Japan in the Round of 16 with goals from Japanese forward, Matsunaga and Hijikata who scored in the 33rd and 65th minutes before substitute, Olushola Shobowale halved the deficit in the 91st for Nigeria.

As the competition progresses, in the quarterfinal fixtures, Japan pipped Spain 1-0 while North Korea defeated Brazil with same scoreline (1-0). Netherlands beat the hosts, Colombia 5-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the regulation time.

As at the time of filing this report, Germany and USA scoreline result remains 0-0 at 52nd minute. 

In the semi-final fixtures, Netherlands face Japan while winners between USA and Germany trade tackles with North Korea.
