Falconets Step Up Preparations For Crucial U20 World Cup Clash Against Senegal

Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, have begun preparations for their upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Senegal, as the team resumed camping in Abuja over the weekend, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Falconets opened camp on Saturday, January 4, 2026, at the Westpoint Hotel, Abuja, marking the start of an intensive build-up to the third-round qualifying encounter. Seventeen players reported for duty on the first day, with more invited players expected to join the camp in the coming days to complete the squad.

Training sessions are already underway, with the technical crew focusing on building team cohesion, tactical organization, and physical conditioning. The early phase of preparation is designed to ensure that players quickly adapt to the team’s playing philosophy and meet the required performance standards ahead of the decisive fixtures.

Head Coach Moses Aduku expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, noting that preparations are proceeding as planned. According to the coach, the technical staff is closely monitoring players while implementing structured training programmes aimed at improving tactical discipline, game intelligence, and overall team organization.

Nigeria will host the first leg of the third-round qualifier against Senegal at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday, February 7. 

The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, in Dakar, where the final ticket to the next round will be decided.

The 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals are set to take place in Poland, with the Falconets aiming to secure qualification and maintain Nigeria’s strong presence on the global stage.
