Falconets To Resume Camping In April For Crucial Malawi FIFA U20 World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, will resume camping in April as preparations intensify for their decisive final-round qualifier against Malawi for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Falconets advanced to the last round of the qualifiers after defeating Senegal 3–1 on aggregate. Malawi also progressed to the decisive stage after edging Guinea-Bissau, setting up a high-stakes encounter between the two sides for a place at the global tournament.

A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the team’s training camp is scheduled to reopen in the first week of April to ensure adequate preparation ahead of the two-legged tie.

“The Falconets should resume camping in the first week of April as the first leg is scheduled for the first week of May,” the official told BSN Sports.

Coached by Moses Aduku, the Falconets will host the first leg of the encounter at a yet-to-be-announced venue in Nigeria between May 1 and 3, 2026. The return leg is slated for Blantyre, Malawi, between May 8 and 10, 2026.

The winner on aggregate will secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, with both nations aiming to clinch one of the coveted tickets to the global competition.

With camping set to begin weeks before the first leg, Nigeria will be banking on early preparation and home advantage as they seek to extend their strong record in youth women’s football on the continental stage.
