Federation Cup: Finidi Shifts Focus To Round Of 16 Clash Against Nasarawa United

Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Finidi George, has turned his attention to the Round of 16 of the Federation Cup after his side secured a hard-fought victory over Rangers International, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Port 

Harcourt-based club edged Rangers 3-2 in an entertaining Round of 32 encounter played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Finidi expressed satisfaction with his team's performance and qualification to the next stage of the competition.

"We started the game well and we are happy with the victory. In the second half, we told the players to keep the ball and after about 20 minutes, the game slowed down a bit," he said.

"Rangers came back and scored two goals, making it a bit scrappy in the last 20 minutes. But at the end of the game, we got the winning goal."

The former Super Eagles coach added that Rivers United remain determined to continue their progress in the tournament.

"We are happy to be in the Round of 16 and we will keep pushing to see where we will end up at the end of the competition," he stated.

Rivers United will now face Nasarawa United in the Round of 16 as they continue their quest for Federation Cup glory.
