The president of the Federation of Benin Football (FBF), Mathurin De Chacus, has called on head coach Gernot Rohr to step down following the national team’s disappointing performance in Tuesday’s international friendly, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Cheetahs suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to the Etalons of Burkina Faso in Rabat, Morocco, a result that has sparked criticism and concerns over the team’s readiness ahead of major competitions.

Rohr, who has been in charge of the Benin national team since 2022, has faced increasing pressure as inconsistent results continue to cast doubt on his leadership and tactical approach.

Benin is set to feature at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for December in Morocco, but the recent performance has intensified calls for urgent changes within the coaching structure to enhance the country’s prospects at the continental tournament.
