Fencing: Inkosi Brou Sets Sights On 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games

Nigeria's rising fencing star, Inkosi Brou, has revealed that his primary goal is to secure a spot in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

At just 17 years old, Brou is currently the second-highest-ranked African fencer at the junior level, sitting at 23rd in the World Junior rankings and 64th globally.

 "My main target for 2025 is to earn a podium finish and secure a medal at the African Junior Championships in Angola, along with achieving another top-eight result at the African Senior Championships," said Brou.

"I also aim to perform well at the upcoming Junior World Championships in China. I view 2025 as an important step in my journey towards the Olympics, and I'm excited about what the year holds for my career."

Brou further shared his aspirations: "As someone whose ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, I plan to leverage my global competition experience to adjust to the demanding travel that comes with high-level fencing. My focus on LA 2028 helps me organize my life and stay committed to my goals. I understand the privilege of being an Olympian and acknowledge that I still have much to improve, but I firmly believe that through focus and dedication, I can achieve this dream."

Notably, Brou made history as the first Nigerian to be selected for the prestigious All-American Fencing First Team, an elite group of top college fencers in the United States.
