Sampson Adedeji
The Commonwealth Fencing Federation has awarded Nigeria the rights to host the 2026 Fencing Championship, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
This opportunity comes on the heels of Nigeria's successful hosting of the 2025 Fencing World Cup, marking the first time a Sub-Saharan African country has organized such an event.
With Egypt and Saudi Arabia claiming victory, the World Cup saw participation from over 10 countries.
As a result of this achievement, Nigeria will become the first African nation to host the prestigious fencing championship.
