Super Eagles and Fenerbahçe defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, has expressed confidence that Nigeria can still secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite facing a difficult path in the ongoing qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking with sports journalists on Tuesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the right-back acknowledged the challenges ahead but maintained that the team has what it takes to turn things around.

“In terms of the Super Eagles qualifiers, I believe we will qualify for the World Cup,” Osayi-Samuel said. “The aim is just to win every single game. Of course, it will be difficult, but I think we have a good chance.”

The Fenerbahçe defender praised the current technical crew, describing the head coach as “fantastic” and lauding the tactical discipline being instilled in the squad.

“For me, the coach is fantastic. The way he wants us to press and run — I think everyone in the team has aligned with his ideas,” he said.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s recent international friendly against Russia, Osayi-Samuel pointed to the team’s strong showing against a side that had been on an unbeaten run.

“In our last game against Russia, we contained a team that hadn’t lost in six or seven matches. If we keep working together, we have a good chance,” he added.

The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, currently sit fourth in their World Cup qualifying group — six points behind group leaders South Africa. With only four games left to play, the pressure is mounting on Nigeria to secure maximum points in their remaining fixtures to keep their qualification hopes alive.
