Finidi George Set To Bring Three Foreign Assistants
By Precious Oham
Super Eagles manager, Finidi George is set to name three foreign assistants as part of the coaching crew in the senior national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Finidi George on 29th April, 2024 was announced by the Nigeria Football Federation to replace Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles Coach
A top Nigeria journalist, Suleiman Pooja on his X account wrote that the Federation and the coach disagreed on who becomes the Assistant Coach; while the NFF recommended Daniel Amokachi and former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama as goalkeeper trainer, Finidi insisted on bringing three foreign Assistant Coaches to be able to deliver the 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket.
In the same vein, another top journalist, Tobi Adepoju wrote; "the Super Eagles gaffer was asked to set up his technical staff and assistants but the NFF will add Daniel Amokachi to the coaching crew and a goalkeeper trainer.
"My source confirmed that the NFF reached out to Vincent Enyeama to take up the role of the Goalkeeper trainer but it seems Enyeama is not interested in the role and offer and hasn't responded.
"Finidi is bringing three other assistants aside from Amokachi and the goalkeeper trainer from the NFF."
Less than five weeks to the crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures against South Africa, George is expected to get the team in the driving seat after opening days draw to Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
