Flamingos End Disappointing World Cup Trip with Visit to King Mohammed V Palace

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national football team, the Flamingos, on Thursday embarked on an excursion to the King Mohammed V Palace in Rabat, Morocco, as part of their final activities before returning home, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to a team official, the players and officials spent the day touring key historical and cultural landmarks in the Moroccan capital, including the King’s Palace and the mausoleum of the late King Mohammed V. “The Flamingos had a day out today on an excursion around Rabat, taking in notable sights including the King’s Palace and the mausoleum of the late King Mohammed V,” the team's media officer said.

“The team will depart for the airport by 8:00 p.m. tonight, with our flight to Abuja scheduled for 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning.”

The sightseeing trip comes after the team’s exit from the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where they were eliminated by Italy following a 4–0 defeat in the Round of 16 on Tuesday night.

The Flamingos endured a difficult tournament campaign winning just one of their four matches, losing three, and finishing with five goals scored and nine conceded. The outing has been described as one of Nigeria’s most disappointing performances at the U-17 women’s level.

Despite the setback, team officials say the players have gained valuable experience and are eager to bounce back stronger in future competitions.
