Nigeria's U-17 women's national team, the Flamingos, have returned home after securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The team arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 4:46 p.m. (Nigerian time) on Sunday following the successful completion of their final qualifying campaign.

The Flamingos sealed one of Africa's four qualification places after defeating Benin Republic 8-5 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers.

Hakeem Busari's side laid the foundation for qualification with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Benin at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, before completing the job with an impressive 5-3 away victory in Lomé, Togo, on Saturday.

Nigeria will join hosts Morocco, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia as Africa's representatives at the 10th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The tournament will be held in Morocco from 17 October to 7 November 2026, with 24 teams from around the world competing for the prestigious title.

Having extended their impressive record of appearances at the competition, the Flamingos will now shift their attention to preparations as they aim to challenge for honours on the global stage later this year.
