Flying Eagles 2-0 Win Over Ghana A Sweet Revenge - John Obuh

Former Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh has described the Nigeria 2-0 win over Ghana at the WAFU B group B opener as sweet revenge, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Black Stars of Ghana on March 29 played a 1-1 draw in Nigeria to pick the World Cup ticket after a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi Ghana. 

The seven-time African champions on Sunday thrashed the WAFU B defending champions, Ghana 2-0 in their group first match.

Reacting to the win in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports, former Flying Eagles coach John Obuh said 'it was a sweet revenge'.

"The 2-0 win was a sweet revenge after what happened in Abuja on March 29 when they picked the World Cup ticket at the expense of Super Eagles." He told BSN Sports

He added, "Anytime we are playing against Ghana, we always remember the last game. If we dont play Ghana with the remeberance of the last game, then we are not ready. The last game means whether we win or lose but the last result always shape the mindset of Nigerians and enough to propel the team to victory.

He stated winning the first match is a morale booster to playing in the final.

"The most important thing is for Nigeria to have this three points. In a tournament like this, the first game is very important particularly when you win the match. From there, we should be able to know how to manage the rest of the games. But i am always of the opinion that once bitten twice shy. I know Bosso will not parade a team that will disappoint Nigerians. Though their preparations in term of camping is not too long but at least the quality of players that he was able to assemble at that particular short time should be able to give us good results." He concluded.
