Flying Eagles Set for First Friendly Since Resumption as U20 WAFU B Tournament Looms

As preparations intensify for the upcoming WAFU B U20 Championship, Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will face Capital City FC in a warm-up fixture on Wednesday, BSN Sports.com.ng reports. 

The encounter marks the team’s first official friendly match since regrouping ahead of the regional competition.

The Flying Eagles are drawn in Group A, where they will compete against arch-rivals Ghana and Benin Republic. Group B will feature Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Togo battling for a place in the semifinals.

Originally postponed, the WAFU B U20 tournament has now been rescheduled to take place in Ghana from July 10 to 23, 2025. While the initial dates were not disclosed, the revised timeline confirms the tournament's return, setting the stage for a showcase of emerging West African football talent.

The friendly game will kick off at 3:00pm at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.
