Flying Eagles To Be In Camp Till AFCON Finals In April?
By Niyi Busari
The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not announced any decision on whether or not the Flying Eagles are staying on in camp till their CAF African Nations Cup finals in Cote D'Ivoire in April, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Flying Eagles resumed ten-day camping on Monday, 10th February for two legged friendly matches with Egypt but last Thursday's CAF U20 AFCON draw saw the two African giants pitched together in same group. The Nigeria U20 team were drawn in Group B alongside Egypt Morocco and South Africa. The pairing affected the scheduled friendlies which was later called off.
Despite this new development, the NFF has not told the officials of the team whether or not the camp will close after initial ten-day camping plan or they continue till April when the AFCON finals commences.
"We are not sure whether we are leaving the Abuja camp after the initial ten-day plan. No one has spoken with us about that. Ours is to concentrate on preparing the team for the task at the AFCON finals. Team's top official told www.bsnsports.com.ng.
The Ibrahim Gusau led NFF has promised early camping for all national teams, according to him, this is to give the coaching crew the opportunity and ample time to prepare their lads better for the competition ahead.
