Flying Eagles To Face Ivorian Club In Final Warm-Up Ahead Of WAFU B Opener

Flying Eagles will continue preparations for the defence of their WAFU B U-20 Championship title with a friendly match against Ivorian Ligue 2 side Athlétique Club de Zuénoula on Thursday evening, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The seven-time African champions arrived in Yamoussoukro on Monday ahead of the regional tournament and are using the friendly as part of their build-up to Monday's Group B opener against hosts Ghana's Black Satellites.

Nigeria, the defending WAFU B champions, have been drawn in Group B alongside Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso.

Following their opening fixture against Ghana, the Flying Eagles will take on Togo before concluding their group-stage campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

The warm-up encounter is expected to give the head coach Abdu Maikaba an opportunity to assess the squad and fine-tune tactics ahead of the team's bid to retain the regional title.
