Flying Eagles Was Good Test For Nasarawa United-Nikyu

Ibraheem Lateef Ayodele

Bala Nikyu, Head Coach of Nasarawa United says the warmup game against the Flying Eagles was a good test for his lads, as he assured that his team is ready to start the new NPFL season irrespective of the kickoff date, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Solid Miners who had taken the lead in the 69th minute via an Ikenna Offor spot kick, had to surrender it after Olamilekan Adams equalized in the 86th minute.

According to Nikyu: "Well, the match was good for both teams because we are preparing for the elite domestic league while they are preparing for a major tournament.

"The match was more important to the Flying Eagles because they will represent the country at an international competition.

"For now, whether you win or lose isn't the most important thing, but being able to identify the areas of weaknesses and subsequent corrections.

"In all fairness, our opponents today are a very good side.

"I do hope they will exhibit the same fighting spirit when they begin their campaign in the U20 AFCON in Egypt.

"Concerning the new league season, we at Nasarawa United are ready, irrespective of any date agreed upon to kick start the new league season."
