The President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Hussein Mohamed, has been suspended by the federation’s National Executive Committee (NEC) over allegations of financial impropriety, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports, the suspension follows claims surrounding the alleged misappropriation of KSh42 million (approximately $324,951.64) earmarked for the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The NEC’s decision also affected member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim and Acting Chief Executive Officer Dennis Gicheru, both of whom have been directed to step aside to pave the way for a full investigation into the matter.

In a major development, the committee further resolved that Deputy President Macdonald Mariga Wanyama should immediately take over as Acting FKF President pending the outcome of the investigations and a forensic audit.

The federation is expected to commence a detailed probe into the allegations as efforts continue to ensure transparency and accountability in the administration of Kenyan football.
