The electoral commission of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) has validated only three of the nine lists submitted for the federation’s forthcoming elections, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports from the electoral body, the lists led by former CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba, Bosco Muehu, and Jean-Didier Massamba were approved to contest in the election.

However, six other lists were declared invalid by the commission, including those headed by former DR Congo international Shabani Nonda and former Portugal international Aziz Makukula.

The commission did not immediately provide detailed reasons for the disqualifications, but candidates affected by the decision have been granted the opportunity to file appeals before the federation’s appeals commission.

The FECOFA elections are scheduled to take place on May 20, with the successful candidates expected to take charge of the administration of football in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
