Football Referees in Cameroon Set For Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Dues
Sampson Adedeji
Football Referees in Cameroon are set to embark on an indefinite strike, plunging the nation's football scene into uncertainty, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to sources within the country, match officials are owed a significant backlog of bonuses and allowances totalling approximately 300 million FCFA (about $498,000).
Despite repeated appeals, there appears to be no indication that the debts will be settled anytime soon.
In response to the prolonged delay, the referees have announced that the strike will commence on Monday, April 21, 2025, unless their demands are met.
The looming industrial action threatens to disrupt the football calendar in Cameroon, raising concerns among stakeholders about the immediate future of domestic competitions.
