Football Stakeholders Celebrate Successful Kids Soccer League Finale In Abuja

The Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coaches Association, David Bathelomew, has praised Femi Ajilore (MON) for his commitment to grassroots football development following the successful conclusion of the Kids Soccer League in Abuja, BSNSporta.com.ng reports.

Bathelomew led a delegation of coaches to the tournament's grand finale at Wuse Zone 7 on Saturday, having accepted an invitation extended by Ajilore during the association's monthly meeting.

The delegation included Vice Chairman II Emmanuel Agbo, Lobi Stars FC Technical Adviser Bala Nikiyu, Barrister Victoria Ihedi, popularly known as "Mama," and other members of the FCT Coaches Association.

The event attracted several prominent figures in Nigerian football, including Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Abba Mohammed Mouktar; former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee member Mr. Elumelu; Super Eagles psychologist Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme; as well as club officials, coaches, parents and football enthusiasts.

Speaking after the final, Bathelomew described the Kids Soccer League as an important platform for identifying and nurturing young football talent, noting that grassroots competitions remain vital to the future of Nigerian football.

"The future of Nigerian football lies in our ability to identify and nurture talents from a young age. What we have witnessed today is a commendable effort that deserves the support of every football stakeholder," he said.

Lobi Stars Technical Adviser Bala Nikiyu also commended the quality of football displayed during the competition, describing the participating children as exceptionally talented.

"The level of talent here is remarkable. These children are already learning the fundamentals of the game. If this type of initiative continues across the country, Nigerian football has a very bright future," Nikiyu said.

Ajilore, the founder of the Kids Soccer League, thanked the FCT Coaches Association for attending the event and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the initiative as a platform for discovering and developing young football talents.

The competition concluded with trophy presentations and celebrations, while stakeholders reiterated the need for sustained investment in grassroots football as a pathway to strengthening the future of the game in Nigeria.

The FCT Coaches Association also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that promote coaching excellence, youth development and sustainable football growth across the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
