Ex-Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has said he prefer Super Eagles to be handled by a foreign manager but emphasized that is not against the appointment of a local coach, BSNsports.com.ng can report
He cited time frame as one of the reasons the federation should give the assignment to an expatriate.
Under Austin Eguavoen Nigeria crashed out in the rounds of the at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon and also failed to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
“Left to me I will prefer a foreign coach to handle the Super Eagles because of what just happened.
“We had a local coach but we all saw what happened, he failed to qualify us for the World Cup. But if the NFF go ahead to appoint a local coach no problem because there is no time, the 2023 AFCON qualifiers is close but my preferred choice is a foreign coach," he told Brila FM
Udeze was part of Super Eagles team to the Japan/ Korea World Cup in 2022 and 2004 AFCON in Tunisia.
