Former Confederation of African Football Secretary General Veron Omba Mosengo has emerged as the new President of the DR Congo Football Association following the federation’s elective congress, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Mosengo, who was the sole candidate in the election, secured an overwhelming victory after polling 60 of the 65 votes cast during the exercise.

According to the election results, three ballots were declared invalid while two members abstained from voting.

The former CAF administrator will now serve a four-year term as president, ushering in what many observers believe will be a new era for football administration in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mosengo’s emergence is expected to bring his vast experience in African football governance to the development of the game in the Central African nation.
