Former Nigeria's Flying Eagles and Montpelier attacker Jerome Akor Adams has opened up on the influence of former Nigerian International John Utaka on his career, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The ex-Eagles forward played an active role in Adam's move to the French Ligue One side from Norwegian club Lillestrom SK.

While speaking to the Naija Footballers platform, Adams said Utaka is a legend of the club.

"John Utaka is a legend; his influence was also part of my decision to come to Montpelier."

"He had played for the club, he has won the Championship with the club, and is very much adored by the fans."

"For me, following in these footsteps, knowing that he laid the path for a young player.".

"I was glad to take the offer to sign for Montpelier; he played as a striker as I am; after the game, we do have discussions on what I should have done, what should be the best option."

"We have this interaction striker to striker so I can improve; it's a huge privilege to have him among the coaching staff at Montpelier," he explained.
