Former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Golden Boot winner Chijioke Mbaoma is reportedly stranded in Egypt following a contractual dispute with his agent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The former Enyimba International striker, who also had a stint with Al Ittihad, was flown to a city near Alexandria for a trial with a local club. However, sources close to the player disclosed that Mbaoma declined to sign a contract after the trial, citing unfavorable terms.
Following his refusal to complete the move, the situation reportedly took a negative turn as his agent allegedly seized his international passport, demanding reimbursement of travel and logistics expenses before releasing the document.
The development has left the Nigerian forward unable to return home or pursue other opportunities, raising concerns over player welfare and the conduct of intermediaries involved in overseas trials.
Mbaoma rose to prominence after finishing as the NPFL top scorer during his time with Enyimba and has since attracted interest from clubs within and outside Nigeria.
