Former Brian Abbas Amidu has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted on drug-related charges, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Black Leopards forward was arrested in October 2025 near Kwekwe after authorities reportedly discovered cannabis valued at approximately $75,000 in his possession.

According to reports, law enforcement officers intercepted Amidu during a routine operation, leading to the seizure of the illicit substance.

Following months of legal proceedings, the court handed down a 12-year custodial sentence.

Amidu, who once featured prominently in the South African top flight and enjoyed a reputation as a talented forward during his playing days, now faces a lengthy spell behind bars, bringing a dramatic fall from grace for the former football star.
