Forty-One Administrators for FIFA-NFF Women's Football Training in Abuja

A three-day FIFA capacity-building programme for women football administrators will begin in Abuja on Friday as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) continues efforts to strengthen leadership and administrative capacity in the women's game.

Preparations for the programme have been concluded with the arrival of FIFA women's football technical experts, Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko, who will serve as lead facilitators throughout the workshop.

They will be joined by a team of Nigerian resource persons, including NFF Executive Committee member and FIFA Media Committee member Aisha Falode; Professor Mariam Suleiman of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Ahmadu Bello University; sports administration expert Dr Anthonia Uwa; and FIFA-trained refereeing instructor and certified safeguarding officer, Mohammed Ameenu.

A total of 41 women football administrators will participate in the programme. The participants include 20 officials from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), three State Football Association secretaries from Lagos, Yobe and Nasarawa states, and 15 members of the NFF staff.

The opening ceremony will be performed by the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

The first day's sessions will feature presentations by Sibanda on FIFA's Overview of Women's Football Worldwide, Connecting and Exploring Leadership, and Planning and Execution of Women's Football Programmes.

Setlhoko will deliver a presentation on Team Leadership: Leading Others, while Professor Suleiman will speak on Mentoring the Girl-Child. Ameenu will conclude the day's technical sessions with a presentation on Result-Based Management and Performance Accountability in Football.

Activities will continue on Saturday with Dr Uwa leading discussions on Bridging the Gap Between Men's and Women's Football. Sibanda will examine the current realities of women's football in Nigeria, while Falode will present the NFF's Women's Football Strategy and the progress towards developing Nigeria's first comprehensive blueprint for women's football.

The day's programme will also feature sessions on Strategic Planning, facilitated by Sibanda and Setlhoko, as well as a presentation on safeguarding by Ameenu.

The workshop forms part of FIFA's broader commitment to strengthening the leadership, governance and sustainable development of women's football across its member associations.
