Nigeria's Super Eagles and Olympique Lyon striker Gift Orban is presently under fire in France after Congratulating the striker of AJ Auxerre Sinaly Diomande, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Auxerre held Lyon to a 2-2 draw on Sunday evening with Diomande scoring a late equalizer. Orban, who was not selected for the game, went on his social media handle to greet Diomande for the goal.

"Great”, followed by two fire emoticons", Orban wrote.

He quickly deleted the post and apologized. " I'm sorry, OL fans. That comment was just to support my friend. I didn't even see that it was a picture of the match against us. We work hard to win matches and trophies. I'm sorry," he wrote.

That reaction did not go down well with the Lyon fans despite his apology.

Whether the fans of Lyon will forget him, remains to be seen because he has not yet been able to convince the French fans with his performances on the field.
