Friendly : Abia Comets Thrash Jewels FA 5-1

With the new season fast approaching, Abia Comets FC delivered a convincing 5-1 victory over Jewels FA, in a friendly match, ahead of the kickoff of 2023/24 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The encounter which was played at the Umuahia Township Stadium, saw Comets netting three goals within 22 minutes, through Samuel Joseph, Hyacinth Olieh and Jonah James to give the Kevin Ejeh-led side a 3-0 first half lead. 

In the second half, they scored the fourth and fifth goals, Burkina Faso youngster Adama Balo embarked on a brilliant solo run and was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty, which Chinatu Eluwa calmy converted by extending the lead to 4-0, in the 71st minute. 

Before Iroakazi Ifeanyi capitalized on a well-placed cross from right-back Chinedu Nwaodu, to scored the fifth goal for Abia Comets. While Jewels FA managed to salvage some pride in the final minutes by scoring a consolation goals, reducing the deficit to four goals as the match ended 5-1, at the Umuahia Township Stadium. 

Abia Comets will resume their training on Monday, to continue preparations for the 2023/24 NNL season, which is set to kick off on October 28,2023.
