From Comebacks to Clean Sweeps: Day 5 Lights Up National Division I & II Volleyball League

Defence Spikers maintained their fine form at the ongoing 2025 National Division I Volleyball League in Abuja with a commanding straight-sets victory over Safety Spikers on Saturday, August 16. The in-form side swept their opponents 2-0 (25-17, 25-19) on Day 5 of the competition at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Package B, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The action-packed day featured a series of thrilling encounters across both Divisions I and II, keeping fans captivated from start to finish.

In the women’s division, Sokoto Caliphate staged a dramatic comeback against Net Force. After losing the opening set 25-20, the northern side clawed their way back to clinch the next two sets 25-23, 15-13 in a nail-biting finish. Adamawa Spartans also came out on top in another intense contest, edging Bayonet Spikers 2-1 (25-21, 17-25, 19-17).

Excelsior VC bounced back strongly with a straight-sets win over Sokoto Caliphate (25-21, 25-21), while Safety Spikers overcame Adamawa Spartans in a hard-fought battle that went the distance, prevailing 2-1 (25-17, 22-25, 16-14).

Division II also produced its share of drama. Edo Beads and Plateau Rocks treated fans to a thrilling three-set clash, with Edo Beads rallying from a set down to secure a 2-1 victory (23-25, 26-24, 15-12). However, Edo Beads later fell in straight sets to Rhino Spikers (25-23, 25-21).

Elsewhere, Light Spikers swept Bayelsa Spikers 2-0 (25-19, 25-21), while Kuje Spikers edged Excelsior VC 2-1 (25-19, 22-25, 15-12). Net Force also mounted a spirited comeback to beat Ekiti Spikers 2-1 (23-25, 25-20, 15-13).

Plateau Rocks later produced one of the most dominant displays of the day, cruising past Sokoto Caliphate 2-0 (25-6, 25-16). Bayelsa Spikers wrapped up the day’s fixtures with a gritty 2-1 victory over Ekiti Spikers (25-23, 23-25, 15-11).

With several teams showing resilience and competitive edge, the 2025 National Division I and II Volleyball League continues to deliver high drama and tight finishes in Abuja.
