Premier League club Fulham have intensified their pursuit of Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu by submitting an improved offer to Turkish side Trabzonspor after their initial bid was rejected, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to Turkish publication Fanatik, Fulham's opening offer of €15 million was turned down by Trabzonspor, prompting the London club to return with an enhanced bid worth €20 million for the highly rated centre-back.

Despite Fulham's renewed approach, Trabzonspor are reportedly reluctant to sanction a sale unless their valuation of between €30 million and €35 million is met.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the Turkish club's standout performers since joining from Austrian outfit Wolfsberger AC in January. His commanding displays at the heart of the defence have quickly attracted attention from several clubs across Europe, particularly in the Premier League.

Fulham are not alone in the race for the Nigerian defender, with fellow English top-flight side West Ham United also believed to be monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

As interest in Nwaiwu continues to grow, Trabzonspor are expected to remain firm in negotiations while the defender's impressive rise continues to enhance his reputation as one of Nigeria's most promising defensive talents.
