Future Eagles Storm Japan For Dream Cup Tournament

Nigeria's Future Eagles have arrived in J-Village Sports Centre (Fukushima), Japan for this year’s edition of International Dream Cup for Under 16 teams., BSNSports.com.ng can report.

A team of 18 players and eight officials, led by a senior NFF official Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman arrived in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday night.

The team was received at the international airport in Tokyo by the officials of the Japanese Football Federation (JFA) with a bus ride of three hours journey to the prestigious J-village sports centre in the city of Fukushima.

The Future Eagles will take on the U16 National Team of Netherlands in an opening day fixture at the J-village Stadium in Fukushima on Wednesday, 31st May (1pm local time in Japan).

Nigeria's second match is against the USA on Friday 2nd June at 3pm. The "Baby Eagles" will confront the host nation, Japan for the final day fixture on Sunday 4th of June (12pm) at the same venue.

The Haruna Ilerika boys were undefeated in five games before jetting out for the country for the tournament.

Nigeria is expected to claim the title from Japan who are four times champions since the creation of the tournament.

The Future Eagles last participated in the Dream Cup tournament in 2019, placing third with one victory and two defeats. 

The Future Eagles programme, headlines the youth development vision of Alhaji Shehu Gusau administration, and is a conscious and deliberate effort to reposition Nigerian Football through the building of a hygienic pool of talents that will supply the various National Teams with decent, well –nurtured talent.
