Future Stars Emerge As 1st Grassroots Swimming Championship Ends In Abuja

Not fewer than 74 emerged and different talents were discovered at the maiden First Swim To Future Championship which successfully ended in Abuja on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The two-day swimming tourney saw over 100 participants registered in an event set up for discovering future talents who will make Nigeria proud at international tournaments. The organizer, the Aquatic Federation of Nigeria in 27 swimming events got 74 medalists who won gold, silver and bronze in each category. In U8 Freestyle girls; Elisa Bestie finished at 53:09 to emerge champion while Esosa Imafidon and Jemma Aiyetan won silver and bronze medals respectively. 

In the boys freestyle category, Diego Gaultieri won gold medal while Naetochi Kenneth was gold medalist in 9-11 years 50m freestyle swimming event. The tournament according to the Aquatic Federation of Nigeria is expected to spread across the country by organizing same in all six geo-political zones. This is to first to catch the talents young and also create a platform to help them excel and be ranked among the best in the world in the nearest future.
