Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has provided an update on the condition of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen following his injury setback, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Osimhen sustained the injury during the second leg of the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool. The Turkish giants suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat on the night, crashing out of the competition 4-1 on aggregate.
Providing an update after the game, Buruk revealed that the striker struggled with pain early in the encounter and could not continue beyond the first half.
“Osimhen is also in pain. It happened at the beginning of the game; we tried to keep him on the pitch, but his pain increased, so we had to substitute him at halftime,” he told the club’s official website.
The Galatasaray boss also voiced his frustration with the officiating, particularly regarding challenges involving Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
“Looking at Osimhen’s position, we saw that Konaté was able to commit these fouls very easily, he could easily apply any kind of foul.
While we were expecting the best referee in the world, perhaps one of the worst referees officiated the game,” Buruk added.
The extent of Osimhen’s injury is yet to be fully determined, with further medical assessments expected to clarify how long the Nigerian international could be sidelined.
