By BSN Sports

Victor Osimhen could soon be named the new captain of Turkish champions Galatasaray following reports linking the Super Eagles striker with a leadership role at the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to Turkish football pundit Ali Naci Küçük, Galatasaray are considering handing the captain’s armband to Osimhen should the club decide not to continue with Argentine forward Mauro Icardi.

“Galatasaray wants to give the captain’s armband to Victor Osimhen if they don’t continue with Mauro Icardi,” Küçük reportedly stated.

Osimhen has enjoyed a remarkable spell with the Istanbul giants, establishing himself as one of the club’s most influential players in recent seasons. Since arriving at Galatasaray, the Nigerian international has played a central role in the club’s domestic success, helping them secure consecutive Turkish Süper Lig titles and lift the Turkish Cup.

The prolific striker has also maintained an impressive scoring record, netting more than 35 goals across multiple campaigns while consistently delivering standout performances.

His impact on and off the pitch has strengthened his reputation among supporters and club officials alike, with the potential captaincy seen as recognition of his leadership qualities and importance to the squad.

Meanwhile, Osimhen joined his Galatasaray teammates on a courtesy visit to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the club’s 26th league title triumph.

The visit marked Osimhen’s second appearance alongside the team after consecutive championship successes, further underlining his growing status at one of Turkey’s biggest football clubs.
