Golden Eaglets head coach, Manu Garba, has expressed confidence that his team will deliver a strong performance at next month’s 2025 WAFU B U-17 Championship, which will be hosted in Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The national U-17 side is currently camped in Abuja, fine-tuning preparations for the tournament scheduled to take place in Ogun State. Garba noted that the squad is gradually taking shape, having secured victories in five recent friendly matches.

“The team is preparing for the WAFU B U-17 Championship, and I’m working to build a solid squad,” said Garba, who guided the Golden Eaglets to FIFA U-17 World Cup glory in 2013, during an interview with Brila FM.

“That is why these friendly games are important. We are still improving, especially in front of goal, and we will correct those mistakes.”

Garba, who was also part of Nigeria’s technical crew when the country lifted its third U-17 World Cup in 2007, added that the team remains a work in progress but is showing positive signs.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had earlier confirmed that Ogun State will host the regional tournament.

Matches will be played at the newly renovated MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta and the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Competing nations include Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger Republic, Benin, Togo, and host Nigeria.
