German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV has announced the departure of Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Philip Otele as he returns to his parent club FC Basel, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Otele joined the German club during the winter transfer window and went on to make nine appearances, scoring once during his short spell with the former Bundesliga champions.

Hamburger SV confirmed the Nigerian forward’s exit on Tuesday alongside five other players who will also leave the club at the end of the season.

“We would like to expressly thank all six players for their performances and their commitment to the HSV,” HSV Sporting Director Claus Costa said in a statement.

The 26-year-old winger is now expected to return to Swiss side FC Basel ahead of preparations for the new season.
