The Ghana national under-17 football team delivered a commanding 4–0 victory over the Côte d’Ivoire national under-17 team in a pre-tournament friendly played in Abidjan, underlining their readiness ahead of continental competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The result, confirmed by the Ghana Football Association via its official X platform, marked the second of two preparatory matches and provided a significant morale boost for the squad.

The emphatic win serves as part of Ghana’s final build-up to the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from May 13 to June 2. Drawn in a competitive Group D, Ghana will face Algeria national under-17 team on May 14, defending champions Senegal national under-17 team on May 17, and South Africa national under-17 team on May 20.

Beyond continental honours, the tournament also serves as a qualification pathway to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, heightening the stakes for participating nations.

Post-match images released by the GFA showed Ghana’s players celebrating confidently on the pitch, reflecting strong team spirit and cohesion ahead of the competition.

The victory comes amid further positive developments for Ghanaian football, following the decision by the Confederation of African Football to award the country hosting rights for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The announcement reinforces Ghana’s growing reputation as a key hub for football development and tournament organisation on the continent.

With preparations yielding encouraging results, the Black Starlets will now shift focus to translating their form into strong performances on the continental stage in Morocco.
