Ghana’s Daniel Laryea to Take Charge of CAF Confederation Cup Group D Showdown
By BSN Sports
Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the CAF Confederation Cup Group D encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and Al Masry.
Laryea will be supported by compatriots Roland Adie and Paul Kodzo as assistant referees, while Charles Bulu has been named as the fourth official for the fixture, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The match forms part of the fifth round of group-stage fixtures, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Al Masry level on points in Group D. Kaizer Chiefs currently sit third in the standings, locked in a tight contest with their Egyptian opponents as the race for qualification intensifies.
The two sides last met on November 23, 2025, when Al Masry secured a 2–1 victory over the South African outfit.
Laryea brings significant experience to the encounter, having recently officiated the high-profile Africa Cup of Nations semifinal between Morocco and Nigeria at the 2025 tournament hosted in Morocco. His performance in that match earned commendation from the Ghana Football Association, which praised him for representing the nation with distinction.
In addition to his on-field duties, Laryea is a FIFA-trained Video Assistant Referee (VAR), further underlining his credentials at the continental level.
