Gift Orban Joins Turkish Super Lig Side On Loan

By Niyi Busari

Nigerian forward Gift Orban has completed a season-long loan move from German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim to Turkish Super Lig newcomers Amedspor ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The agreement includes an option for Amedspor to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell, subject to the fulfilment of agreed performance-related conditions and contractual clauses.

The move offers the 24-year-old an opportunity to secure regular first-team football after finding playing time limited at Hoffenheim. Orban joined the Bundesliga side following his impressive spell in Europe, but struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter.

Amedspor, who earned promotion to the Turkish Super Lig after a successful 2025/26 season, view the Nigerian striker as a key addition to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for their maiden campaign in Turkey's top flight.

Orban first rose to prominence during his time with Belgian side Gent, where his prolific goalscoring exploits attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. Known for his pace, movement and clinical finishing, he will be expected to play a significant role in Amedspor's bid to retain their top-flight status.

The loan move also provides the former Super Eagles invitee with another opportunity to rediscover the form that made him one of Europe's most exciting young forwards. A strong campaign in Turkey could boost his chances of returning to Hoffenheim or securing a permanent move while also enhancing his prospects of earning a regular place in Nigeria's national team.
