Gold in Golf, Glory in Ayo: Team FCT Claims Nine Medals As National Sports Festival Enters Day 4

 Team FCT continues to make impressive strides at the National Sports Festival as the championship enters its third day, securing a total of nine medals across multiple sporting events, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

So far, the team has clinched 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals, showcasing the talent and dedication of its homegrown athletes, all trained by the FCT Sports Department.

In weightlifting, Esther Clement emerged as a standout performer, earning 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, a testament to her rigorous training and resilience.

In the traditional game of Ayo, Team FCT captured 2 Gold medals. Jato Timothy took Gold in the Singles category, while Sarah Kyerkyaa triumphed in the Female Doubles event.

Kung Fu brought another Silver to the team, courtesy of Goodluck Emmanuel, while Taekwondo delivered 2 Bronze medals. Chijioke Kalu (80kg) and Usman Muhammed (58kg) both fought valiantly to earn podium finishes.

Team FCT also claimed Gold in Golf, with Grace Agbo securing top honors in a commanding performance.

With a current tally of nine medals, the Director of FCT Sports Department, Luka Istifanus expressed pride in the athletes’ achievements, highlighting that all medalists are homegrown talents, developed and nurtured within the FCT system.

“This performance validates our investment in grassroots sports development. With continued hard work and God’s grace, we are confident our athletes will make FCT proud,” said the FCT Director of Sports.
