Golfers From Nigeria, Ghana, Others Jostle For Car Star Prize As Independence Golf Tournament Tees off

The 63rd Independence Golf Tournament tees off today Wednesday 27th September, 2023 at the IBB Golf Club, Abuja with 500 golfers, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Out of the 500 registered golfers only Handicap 0-18 professionals are eligible to slug it out for the Car Star prize which was proudly sponsored by PAN Nigeria. Other golfers are to compete for other prizes.

The registered golfers are from Nigeria and other four African countries namely: Rwanda, Cameroon, Uganda and Ghana who will entertain the spectators in the 5-day international tournament .

The 2023 Independence Golf Tournament is scheduled to come to an end on 1st October where the overall winner will cruise home with a brand new car.

This year’s tournament will feature a challenging course that will test the skills and strategies of every golfer. With pristine fairways and meticulously maintained greens, the IBB Golf Club provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable week of golf.

“We are thrilled to host the Independence Golf Tournament once again, and we wanted to make this year’s event extra special,” said the IBB Golf Captain, Dr. Banjo Obaleye.

"We are also using the platform and wonderful game of golf to highlight the business opportunities in Nigeria and promote vibrant trade between African countries. This year’s event will include a business dinner with delegates from the other African countries.

“The tournament will also offer opportunities for networking, socializing, and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts.”

This event is a celebration of our nation’s independence and a testament to the passion and dedication that golfers bring to the sport.

The Chairman of the Independence Cup Organising Committee, and the Club’s Vice Captain, Ibrahim Babayo assured the golfers, the media and the public a “show stopper event.”
