Gombe United Deserved To End Insurance Unbeaten Run- Babaganaru

Ibrahim Lateef

Mohammed Babaganaru say his Gombe United deserved to end Bendel Insurance unbeaten run, though he he admitted his opponent was tough to crack, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Speaking after the match, Babaganaru expressed how deeply happy to beat the strongest team in the country.

"I am very happy that our strategy worked," Babaganaru said.

"Insurance has the best defence and they are very difficult to crack. I thank God we are able to break through.

"We played against them last season and we couldn't score against them. They are highly disciplined, with strong character. We planned seriously to break their unbeaten run because we all know the history Insurance created last season when they finished the Abridged League without losing any match.

"Our team is getting better with new approach and determination. I am proud of my boys."

Ahmed Jimoh scored the only goal in the 52nd minute to give the Savannah Scorpions a 1-0 home win over the Benin Arsenal.

The match was very cagey and keenly contested here at pantami stadium under the scorching sun of Gombe.

Jimoh's a low drive effort went beyond the reach of the Amas Obasagie to the right corner of the net.

The General Manager of Gombe United Abubakar Abubakar Yellow, along side Commissioner of Sports and Youth Empowerment Honorable Adamu Inuwa Pantami, were guest at the VIP section of the stadium.

Gombe United FC will be at home against plateau Utd on Sunday, October 28 here at Pantami Stadium, Gombe in the NPFL Matchday 5 fixture.
