Governor Diri Awards Cash Rewards To African Wrestling Champions

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has awarded a total of over ₦14 million to victorious athletes who made the state and country proud at the recently concluded All-African Wrestling Championship in Casablanca, Morocco, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The governor expressed his joy at their performances, announcing cash rewards of ₦2 million each for gold medalists, ₦1 million for silver medalists, and ₦700,000 for bronze medalists.

The coach of the team received ₦2.5 million.

While receiving the victorious athletes, who are originally from Bayelsa, at the Executive Council Chambers in the Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Diri remarked that their achievements have elevated the pride of both the state and the nation.

Dr. Daniel Igali, the Commissioner for Sports Development, presented the athletes and their trophy to Governor Diri and thanked him for his support of the team.
