Grace Nwokocha Returns To Track After Serving Three-Year Doping Ban

Nigerian Women's 100m and 200m sprinter Grace Nwokocha has been freed to return to the track after serving her three-year doping ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Recall that Nwokocha was the first Nigerian athlete to qualify for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics and also won the 100m at the 2020 edition of the National Sports Festival in Benin.

Nwokocha was the anchor leg in the Women's 4x100m relay team that had the likes of Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Tobi Amusan, where they finished with a time of 42.10s at the 2020 Commonwealth Games in Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

The Olympian tested positive for Ostarine and Dihydroxy LGD40033 during the competition; both substances are always banned under the Commonwealth Games Federation CGF) Anti-Doping Rules.

Meanwhile, Nwokocha was suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit AIU provisionally on August 21, 2022 and was found guilty of the anti-doping Violation in Match 2023. She accepted the ruling in a case Resolution Agreement, with her ban backdated to 3rd of August, 2022 and subsequently ended in August 2025.
