Grant Resigns As Zambia Coach After Three Years

Sampson Adedeji

Zambia national team head coach, Avram Grant, has officially resigned from his position after three years in charge of the Chipolopolo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The experienced Israeli tactician, who previously managed top sides such as Chelsea, Portsmouth, and the Ghana national team, decided to step down following Zambia’s failure to secure qualification for the much-coveted FIFA World Cup.

Grant was appointed in 2022 with the mandate to rebuild the team and guide them back to prominence on the African continent. Despite flashes of progress during his tenure, the Chipolopolo struggled for consistency, especially in the World Cup qualifying campaign.

According to reports, Grant informed the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) of his decision earlier this week, thanking the association and the Zambian people for their support throughout his stay.

His departure now leaves FAZ searching for a new coach to lead the national team as they prepare for future international engagements.
