Green Light For Osimhen As Napoli Owner Admits Team Isn't Dependent On 'Single Star'

By Gbenga Gboyega

One of the world's hottest strikers based on form and market value, Nigeria's Victor Osimhen has continued to sustain media buzz both directly and indirectly, with the latest update coming from Napoli's owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis BSNSports.com.ng gathers.

While speaking to the 'Financial Times media platform, De Laurentiis admitted that his team's successes this season are more dependent on team efforts rather than individual brilliance.

Osimhen, who has 23 goals and five assists in 29 league games this season has been touted by fans to clinch several individual awards both for the country, his home continent, and his club, thereby drawing attention from suitors and elite clubs globally.

However, despite stating that Osimhen wasn't going to be for sale barely a week ago, De Laurentiis has hinted that the current squad's achievements can be replicated, because they are more of a group rather than relying on a 'single star'.

"So many stars sold in the summer?

"Their (Napoli)'s desire to win was exhausted. I no longer believed it. Maybe I was wrong. But I'm the owner. I decide.

"The current squad won because they are a group and not a single star."

This probably gives the green light to suitors that Osimhen (with a mouthwatering offer on the table) can still be available for a deal this summer, as a crop of the Partenopie players could still be retained come the 2023-24 campaign.

Bsnsports.com.ng will continue to keep tabs on updates from Napoli's camp, as the season wraps up.
