Guinea Football Federation President Removed, Interim Head Appointed
Sampson Adedeji
Aboubakar Sampil, the President of the Guinea Football Federation, has been dismissed by the executive committee of the federation, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The decision follows allegations of his involvement in the disqualification of the U17 team over age fraud, as well as claims of abuse of office.
In an official statement, the spokesperson for the Executive Committee of the Guinea Football Federation (FGF) confirmed the move: "As per the ordinary meeting of the Executive Committee held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, it was decided by a majority vote to temporarily dismiss Mr. Aboubacar Sampil as President of the Guinea Football Federation. This decision came after a unanimous vote, with all seven members in agreement."
The statement further highlighted that the dismissal stemmed from significant dysfunctions within the federation, including issues such as a lack of transparency, poor internal and external communication, weakened governance, and financial practices that do not align with sound management principles.
"This decision represents an institutional response to a leadership crisis, to improve the governance of our federation," the statement concluded.
In the interim, Sory Doumbouya has been appointed as the acting president of the Guinea Football Federation.
