Sampson Adedeji
The football authorities in Guinea have taken a significant step toward modernising officiating in the domestic league with the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, BSNSports.com.ng reports
As part of preparations for the rollout, match officials in the country have officially commenced specialised training on the use and operation of the VAR technology.
The training programme is designed to equip referees and technical officials with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to effectively implement the system during league matches.
The introduction of VAR is expected to improve decision-making during games, reduce controversial calls, and enhance the overall credibility of officiating in Guinean football.
Football stakeholders believe the move represents a major milestone in the development of the sport in the West African nation, aligning the country’s league with modern standards increasingly adopted across global competitions.
