Gusau: Nothing Can Stop Super Eagles From 2026 World Cup Qualification
Ibrahim Lateef
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau says nothing can stop the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup if the country's football family stays united, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
CAF recently set the ball rolling when it conducted the qualifying draws for the World Cup with Nigeria being pitched in group C alongside South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.
Whilst the memory of failing to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar is still fresh, Gusau opined that his board is very determined to make sure such pain will be averted this time around.
He stressed that this is the reason why he is calling on all football loving Nigerians , from stakeholders, journalists , fans and the Government to be on the same page to land the ticket to U.S.A, Mexico and Canada.
For me: "A house divided against itself cannot stand and I am very sure we have all learnt lessons from previous mistakes. Check all the times we qualified for the World Cup, the country was in one accord."
"From 1994 to the first Africa World cup in 2010 in South Africa,to Nigeria's last Appearance in Russia 2018."
"You will see unity of purpose from the Villa to the Sports Ministry and the NFF," he explained.
The Zamfara State born astute administrator however said he has hundred percent trust in the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give the NFF all the support to book the World Cup ticket.
"One thing we are so excited about in the Glass House is the quality of Excellence and Passion President Tinubu has for this country and football will have its own rightful share, no doubt, " he stated.
He maintained that on the part of the NFF plans are already underway to deploy everything necessary to support the players and the coaches to succeed.
The Super Eagles will begin their quest for a place at the World Cup come November.
