In a move seen as a gesture of respect and honor, the Gwagwalada Football Council has handed over the organization of the 20th Anniversary of the Gwagwalada League to the Gwagwalada Elders Forum in recognition of their “invaluable contributions to the development and unity of football” in the area.

The landmark edition of the Gwagwalada League is expected to ignite excitement among football lovers across Gwagwalada and the wider Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with organizers promising a tournament that will “throw supporters and fans into a frenzy.”

The anniversary planning committee will be headed by Elder Patrick Ngwaogu and includes respected figures such as Coach Pascal Dauda, Coach Thompson Ojukwu, Coach Chiwuba Anieriobi, and Coach Joshua Omojuyigbe, among others — all described as “men of great repute and astute administrators.”

Expressing delight at the committee’s composition, Ibrahim Bako, Chairman of the Gwagwalada Football Council, said:

“We are indeed delighted to have these great men in the Gwagwalada football ecosystem.”

Bako also issued a call for corporate sponsorships and support from “football-loving individuals” to help deliver what he described as the best league in the FCT.

The 20th Anniversary Gwagwalada League is expected to serve not only as a celebration of football history but also as a platform to inspire the next generation of players in the region.
